Fasting Scares People
Fasting scares people more than any health effort I have ever worked with!
It seems one of the most powerful efforts you can make to improve your health and life longevity is to do less, to do nothing! Simply stop eating.
One of the drivers of aging, chronic diseases, hormone issues, memory and mental clarity, weight issues, fatigue, and depression/anxiety is our constant, continual, steady eating pattern.
I know that might seem counterintuitive, but it is true. As soon as you stop eating, we are talking within 2-4 hours, your body starts to heal, detox, and grow.
During fasting our hormones that are off-balance reset and all your health and healing hormones kick into high gear and brain chemistry enhances while our immune system goes in hyperdrive and completely rebuilds itself from brand new stem cells triggered by our fast.
The longer you go without eating the better, and NO, you won’t starve or DIE! Not from functional fasting.
Let me be clear, fasting can make you feel strange, uncomfortable, and challenge you, but just know that waiting for you on the other side is amazing changes that you can hardly imagine right now.
If you think you are going to reach amazing levels of optimal health or heal from chronic conditions without some struggle, pain, and frustration, then you effectively guarantee you will not get well. They are part of the deal.
Our fasting mechanism is like a muscle that needs to be exercised to grow stronger. After your first workout, you WILL be sore, you WILL be tired, you WILL feel challenged, maybe even weak, therefore you WILL need to prepare, you WILL sweat, and most of all you WILL be better off for having done it. With time and practice, you WILL get better and better at it as you GROW stronger.
Fasting works the same way. As your fasting mechanisms grow stronger your body WILL feel better, you WILL sleep better, you WILL lose weight, you WILL build muscle, you WILL feel happier, you WILL become healthier, and you WILL live longer.
The question is, “WILL you do it?”
Fasting is one piece of the health and healing puzzle and when combined with others like appropriate exercise, eating habits, stress reduction, goal setting, and with self and bodywork like chiropractic care, massage, yoga, meditation, and motivational reading, the stars become the limit.
