KETO WITH NO SUCCESS?
The scenario is a perfect example of a “doing everything right,” but it’s just a “not working” mentality.
The person in this graphic was counting her carbs, staying low carb in general, using keto snacks rather than junk, making her meals at home for her family, delayed eating, staying within an 8-hour window, and doing exactly what people are being told every day in the keto world.
You can be following keto perfectly and still drive insulin up high enough to stop ketosis and weight loss through what I call the 10 “Hidden Insulin Magnifiers.”
Hormones decide whether you’re in ketosis, lose weight, heal, or recover.
Insulin decides if we are in nutritional ketosis or not. Not carbs, not counting anything, not blood sugar.
I count 9 out of 10 Hidden Insulin Magnifiers in this graphic while doing keto by the book.
These “Hidden Insulin Magnifiers ” can be more important than what’s on your plate and trump your carb count, intermittent fasting model, and caloric intake.
“How You Eat” is about the “Hidden Insulin Magnifiers.”
These behaviors can compound negatively against us no matter how good our diet or wellness and health efforts are.
They can hold us back, make us worse, and be the key to why we are not achieving our goals.
In my follow-up post, I will discuss the 9 “Hidden Insulin Magnifiers” in this graphic.
These magnifiers are behavioral and can be learned and incorporated into any diet to have it work again. Especially keto.
It does take work, effort, and a desire to see and make a change, but if nothing else, you should know there’s hope.
You did not fail, and I used to hate this next one, but honestly, it’s not your fault.
We have all been misled. It has led to weight gain, depression, metabolic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, Cancer, and a whole lot more.
Check in tomorrow, and we’ll go further.
We can do better!
Dr. Don
