Seed Oil Detox
Seed oils are rancid, omega-6 oils manufactured from plant materials that get into every membrane, cell, tissue, organ, hormone receptor, and brain.
The problem? These sub-par building blocks have infiltrated every layer of our biology and they need to be removed, recycled, and replaced so our cells can regenerate with high-quality fats.
What Are Seed Oils?
Seed oils are essentially all vegetable oils except for coconut, olive, and avocado oils.
Common seed oils include:
- Soybean oil
- Corn oil
- Canola oil
- Sunflower oil
- Safflower oil
- Cottonseed oil
Today, seed oils make up about 20% of the American diet, while a truly healthy level would be closer to 4% or less, ideally from whole, natural foods.
The Damage Seed Oils Cause
Seed oils are rich in omega-6 fatty acids, which oxidize easily and create inflammation when consumed in excess. Over time, this leads to:
- Hormonal dysfunction
- Weight gain and insulin resistance
- Cardiometabolic issues and oxidative stress
- Cognitive decline and accelerated aging
Their half-life in the body is 4.5 years, meaning it can take that long to clear them without intentional effort.
How Long Does It Really Take to Detox from Seed Oils?
I believe that when these principles are executed consistently in both lifestyle and diet the removal of these rancid fats (seed oils/Omega-6s) can be significantly accelerated.
So how quickly can we reasonably expect to eliminate these subpar building blocks from our cells and tissues?
As quickly as 1.5 years.
Yes, even with all the effort, it can still take 1.5 years or more to truly detox from damaging seed oils stored in our bodies.
Oils can be highly health-promoting or deeply health-degrading. Either way, they are powerful and the wrong ones can reshape our biology in ways that speed up dysfunction and aging.
Steps to detoxing your body from seed oils:
Steps to Detox from Seed Oils
1. Stop All Consumption
The first step is complete removal of seed oils. Read labels. Cook with safe oils (olive, coconut, avocado). Avoid restaurant fried foods.
2. Lower Hormonal Reactivity
Minimize insulin and cortisol spikes through fasting, reducing sugar, and managing stress.
3. Eat Quality Fats
Focus on stable omega-3s (like from wild fish or flax) and saturated fats that protect cell membranes.
4. Promote Fat Burning
Encourage your body to recycle damaged omega-6s by becoming fat-adapted — through fasting, low-insulin meals, and movement.
5. Rebuild Cells
Feed the body with high-quality fats and expose it to healthy stressors like fasting, exercise, saunas, and breathwork.
6. Replace Damaged Cells
Support regeneration through stem cell activation: refeed properly after fasting, exercise, and sleep.
7. Maintain the Environment
Preserve new, healthy cells through:
- Chiropractic and parasympathetic nervous system activation
- Optimizing sleep and meditation
- Avoiding chronic stress and high insulin exposure
Detoxing seed oils and rancid fatty acids from our bodies is a must. It’s non-negotiable.
Seed oils are more dangerous than sugar, HFCS, additives, or many other environmental chemicals.
They drive cardiometabolic problems (including cancer), weight gain, weight loss resistance, and cognitive decline.
The good news is we can remove them from our cells even after decades of consumption and poor health.
It takes effort. A lot of effort. A plan and dedication. Support and guidance.
The alternative is the standard American dismal health statistics.
This post reflects my opinion, based on my knowledge and experience, and is a personal account of my own health and professional journey. We have to stay ahead of the curve.
I just presented this on “The Metabolic Reset Summit on Menopause Mastery,” and am creating a master class to dive deeper and an 8-week program to learn and help structure people’s lifelong process to free themselves of and detox from seed oil damage.
More to come.
We can do better!
