4 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW TO REVERSE INSULIN RESISTANCE
-
Ectopic fat must be cleared from the liver and pancreas
-
Beta cells that changed over time must turn back to betas
-
Glycogen capacity must increase to normal or above levels
-
Glucose transport carriers must return to normal levels (50% gone in IR and 80% in T2DM)
All of that is independent of body fat amount, percentage, or weight loss.
Do these 4 things and IR will be reversed and so will T2DM.
If you do not achieve them then someone can lose weight, return to normal blood glucose, and even feel better, but they will still have IR and or T2DM and not escape all the negative complications they bring statistically.
You do not have to lose weight to reverse these conditions, therefore you do not have to be in a calorie negative state to accomplish these 4 things.
Can you do both?
Yes, and in my programs they do, but the reversal is not dependent on it.
Let me be clear, I am not talking about weight loss for these 4 reasons specifically. This is not a discussion or position on calories or a caloric restriction.
There is a whole lot of physiology within those 4 points, a whole lot. If you want to learn more about this, start studying, these simple 4 things above have come from being in this field for over 15 years and years of research, my own programs, studies in the population health sector, and continual learning and refinement.
If you want somewhere to start, check the Guides Section in my Facebook group, “Insulin Friendly Fasting Secrets,” and the discussion feed there. I have over 1,000 posts on it all and over 400 original articles that I have written over the years on the many different factors and details about Insulin Resistance and how to reverse it there.
If you are looking for research papers then you will need to find many to cover all the info I summed up into those 4 main points.
Unfortunately, there isn’t just one article that will tell you all this. These concepts cover too much ground.
But each of the 4 elements will have multiple studies if you know how to look for them. I am not digging them up for you right now or any time soon. I have already read them, studied them, reviewed the physiology, asked the questions, tested the theories, and learned how it works, hence this post, the comments, and the entire Facebook group and the info in it.
For different ways to learn or study all this, I have videos, Facebook Lives, a 14 post series, graphics, and much more here to help you. The group is open to everyone and 100% free for you to check out.
If you have specific questions as you learn it all please tag me in the comments and I will do what I can to help if I can not, I will find out how to answer you or change whatever point that may need clarification or change.
I did not make any of this up, I learned it as anyone else would over time and I do not have to be right, it isn’t my place to try, I just want the best and most accurate physiology information I can have. I live and apply this information and the strategies I write about in my own life and have raised my children with it as well.
This is not academic for me, it is practical and part of my lifestyle, and if you want to learn how it can be a part of yours I am committed to helping in any way that I can.
I hope to see you scrolling through the feed in the group one day.
We can do better!
